The Secret of Climate-friendly Heating
Das Geheimnis des klimafreundlichen Heizens
The special highlight of the Hase Ottawa stove is its heat retaining block above the fire box
Trier, Germany, June 2010. The secret of a stove is in the inside – where the flames provide both fascination and cosy, comforting warmth. The new Ottawa from Hase holds a special secret: It features a massive storage block above the fire box that retains heat for many hours, even after the fire has long gone out. The exterior of the Ottawa is just as impressive: the beautifully designed all-steel stove can be rotated 160 degrees, providing an inviting view of the flames from several sides. The Ottawa’s stove top is available in steel, ceramic, or soapstone, lending an individual accent to any home.
Climate-friendly heating
Particularly important in view of the climate change: the Ottawa heats more efficiently due its large heat reservoir. A 140-kg heat-retaining block above the fire box absorbs the heat from the fire. The bricks are heated up by the hot convection air and gradually emit cosy warmth into the room. The air slider can be opened or closed to guide the convection air either to the heat-retaining block or directly into the room.
The concept underscores the Hase philosophy: In addition to its heat reservoir, the Ottawa – like all Hase stoves – is distinguished by its environmentally-friendly, advanced combustion technique. As a result, Hase stoves emit significantly less particle matter and have lower CO2 content values than required by law. And since wood is a CO2-neutral fuel that does not contribute to the greenhouse effect, it is another positive asset on the environmental balance sheet.
The Ottawa is 155 cm tall, 48 cm wide, and 48 cm deep. Depending on the selected stove top, the Ottawa weighs 319, 324, or 343 kg. Its thermal output of 6 kW makes the Ottawa ideal for homes with medium heating requirements.
